I am now adopted and have a lovely new home!

This Chinese Bakelite game has quite a wonderful Perching Peacock style one bamboo and unusual flower combinations of creatures (including a playful cat) and characters based on “Ruse of the Empty City – based on a popular Chinese story.

Chinese Bakelite is a term used to identify this style of game. These games were imported from China and are made of Bakelite – they pass the scrubbing bubbles test for Bakelite. Most of the Chinese Bakelite tiles have a sharper edge to them as this set does. The exception to this are the “pillow” style tiles which has curved edges.

This game has 8 flower tiles plus 8 stickered joker tiles. Chinese Bakelite sets are very popular these days and games with 152 tiles are becoming rarer and rarer.

The tiles look to have been played with a lot over the years and the paint work is a little faded – perhaps this would be a candidate for someone with appropriate skills to touch up the carvings a little.

The case is in very good condition and strong with its original leather handle. There are 5 racks made of brown wood and original to the game.

No matter the style of game you play (Chinese or NMJL) this game is ready for play right out of the box !

REMEMBER: Despite my age I have many more years of life left in me … I may be a little more worn than some games on this website but I know someone will still find me lovable 🙂
